Prince or Princess Gender Reveal

Updated on: Oct 05, 2024

Do you want a unique spin on your gender reveal party? We have the perfect options to make it the memorable, special moment it's intended to be. Whether you're planning the party for family or friends, or simply revealing the gender to the loved ones around you, we’ve compiled a list of unique, prince or princess-themed party ideas for your gender reveal party. We’ve done the planning so you don’t have to. Below we’ve considered things like decorations, favors, menu ideas, party supplies, and much more so you can focus on purchasing and setting up. Enjoy both the planning and the party!

Prince or Princess Gender Reveal - Decorations

Decorations are probably the most vital part of any party - it wouldn’t be a party if you didn’t fancy up the room to reflect the celebrations. We’ve put in some basics that any party must have as well as some different decorations to spice it up a little.

1. Balloon Color Themes

Like many of the following decorations, balloons offer a few options. You can go with the classic blue vs. pink, using the stereotypical designation with blue for boy or pink for girl. Better yet, you can find a mixture of the royal theme with the blue vs pink by looking for blue and pink balloons with crowns on them. Or, you could find only royally-themed balloons - gold crown-shaped ones would be beautiful alongside castle-shaped balloons or prince/princess-shaped ones too. There are so many options!

2. Golden Picture Frames

With this party, you’d likely want to tie themes of gold, pink and blue together. Pictures of babies with crowns framed with golden-colored frames would go perfectly next to your food or during the entrance. On either side, a boy and a girl would go great in order to keep partygoers guessing which gender it's going to be.

3. Cake or Cupcake Toppers

Sticking out of the cupcakes or in the middle of the cake, it’d be a great idea to include even more crowns. We would recommend pairing them color-wise with whatever they’re attached to, especially if you have chosen to go with the blue, pink, and gold color theme. For example, pink and blue cupcakes with shiny golden crowns sticking out could look really good. Another great option would be to draw these crowns directly on the cupcakes.

4. Name Tags

Continuing with the crowns, it would be super cute for everyone to wear a name tag in the shape of a crown. Boys could take blue ones, girls would make pink, and you could even have a gender-neutral option in the form of gold. At the beginning of the party, guests would write down their names on these tags and pin them to themselves.

5. Petals/Confetti

If you really wish to go all out, sprinkling golden petals or confetti across the entire floor would make the entire room sparkle. It would quite literally light up the room and adequately set up the party scene for your guests to enjoy. Furthermore, if you choose to reveal the baby’s gender via a balloon, it would allow the balloon confetti to remain on the ground without needing to clean up mid-party.

6. Plates and Other Cutlery

A basic, yes, but nonetheless incredibly important. Many places have plates with crowns to stay on brand with the party. If you can’t find these, choose blue, pink, or golden plates to continue with the prince or princess theme. These should be widely available.

Prince or Princess Gender Reveal - Favors

Any good party should come with favors, and we have a few spins on what you could give to your guests for the memorable event you are looking for. We’ve recommended a box option as well as some things to put inside.

7. Crown/Castle Box

In order to store the favors, rather than your typical clear plastic bag or gift bag we’d recommend something a little cooler. Using a box with edges that look like a crown or castle (pictured above) would look very good. Even something as simple as using the triangle shape (pointed up) with a circle on the end would create the crown shape that gives your bag a little more oomph. Find a mix of blue and pink.

8. Personalized Candies

Everyone likes a good chocolate bar or free food. Putting a personalized label on well-known candies would totally bring a smile to your guests’ faces and allow them to enjoy an extra little something post-party.

9. Personalized Mugs/Cups

This is a really great option, however, it heavily depends on the budget. Adding a mug or cup with the favors creates a nice, long-lasting gift that will keep your guests talking about your event for a long, long time. As well, this is a practical gift, something that guests will actually be happy to receive.

10. Hand Sanitizers

Although this one’s a COVID special, it really works at any point (or you could sub it out for a small hand lotion!). Hand sanitizer is probably the optimal gift right now, mixing together the perfect combination of practical and pretty. Everyone’s going to be needing some of these, and if they don’t use them, they should probably begin!

11. Party Favor Raffle

For something on the less expensive side, you could create or purchase cards with any number of winners and gifts with the party. Raffle ideas could range anywhere from spa gift baskets to jello shots to a waffle maker. Be creative here! If you want something that goes with the prince/princess theme, we’d recommend a fine wine (if they’re overage of course) that's been bedazzled in gold - either rhinestones or gold flakes simply covering most of the bottle.

Prince or Princess Gender Reveal - Menu Ideas

This probably is my personal favorite section of a party and what I look forward to the most when I go. It's also (in my opinion) the most fun where you can flex your creative skills and really separate yourselves from other gender reveal parties. Have fun here, but make sure your food also tastes good!

12. Cupcakes

Whether your order or making these from scratch, the gist is the same. Have the cupcake liners and coloring all be the same color. To be safe, stick with pink and blue as usual, but to stand out a little more, purchase edible gold flakes or see if your local baker has some that they could sprinkle on. Having guests “eat gold” in a sense would really add to the prince or princess experience.

13. Cake

Again, the cake should tie in all themes of the party. Depending on how many guests you have, a layered cake would be a great option design wise. This way, you could have one layer dedicated entirely to gold, or have more space in general to decorate with the gold. A layered cake would also offer more space to put a fondant prince and princess on. This is important, as the cake will almost certainly be the centerpiece of the food table.

15. Hershey’s Chocolate

These chocolates are fairly known, but they are too cute to not include. If you don’t know which one’s we’re talking about, notice this: the word “Hershey’s” has the words “She” and “He” in it. Hershey’s noticed this, and did something fairly creative. They colored the word “She” in pink and “He” in blue on the wrapper, making it the perfect decoration for a gender reveal party. To bring in the prince/princess theme, put these on gold napkins or a golden tablecloth for it to stand out.

14. A Wild Card

We would recommend picking one or two of the following: macaroons, cake pops, chocolate-covered strawberries, sugar cookies, candy apples, or any drink refresher. Why? These are all things that wouldn’t require gold flakes or gold paint, but instead something simpler yet pretty like a gold ribbon. For example, on the cake pop handle, you could tie a golden ribbon in a bow shape, offering not only a way to bring it into the theme but also a way to make it prettier. For all of the aforementioned lists, you could either attach the ribbon to the food or the display tray while keeping the unique twist on foods for your party. Make sure you keep these in pink or blue!

16. Crown/Castle Sandwiches

Sandwiches can be easily molded and cut into different fun shapes, and we would recommend a castle or crown! Stick with basic sandwiches like “ham and cheese” or “turkey and brie” but make sure it's square bread while making it. Then, either using a cookie cutter or knife, cut the foods into the shape you wish and watch as your guests smile at your creative endeavors!

Prince or Princess Gender Reveal - Games/Entertainment

What’s a party without entertainment? We’ve included some below that work with the theme, and some that go with any gender reveal party!

17. Piñata

A classic - simple but effective. Finding either a crown or castle-shaped piñata, or even just a gold one in a generic shape could be incredibly fun. If you went with the aforementioned name tags idea (using blue, pink, and maybe gold), these could be your teams now! Take turns whacking and whoever breaks it open, wins! No worries, though, everyone still gets to enjoy the candy.

18. Photo Booth

This project is a little more time-consuming, depending on how all-out you go. For the more budget-friendly side, create a golden backdrop with fairy lights hanging on top. On the side, place a nightstand or stool with fun accessories, such as crowns, capes, and (fake) gold jewelry for your guests to put on and photograph with. You may also wish to include some regular items such as sunglasses, mustaches, and glow-bracelets. If you have a more ranged budget and more preparation time, purchasing a photo backdrop of a prince and princess with the face cut out would also make for a fun photo booth idea!
